I am often asked about teaching and if I’m taking on any new students at the moment. Unfortunately, whilst I have a real passion for teaching, my current workload prevents me at the present time. I can, however, recommend many excellent books, DVDs and websites (although this is by no means an exhaustive list).

Fundamental Changes have a superb range of books.

The Musicians Institute range of books really helped me when I was starting out - especially ‘Sight Reading For Guitar’ which provides a clear and methodical approach - and remember: Steve Vai himself reckons that the guitar is the single most difficult instrument to sight read on!!

As far as DVDs go, Lick Library have an extensive range in many different styles by some of the top players in the country. Also be sure to check out the releases by ‘REH’ and ‘Hotlicks’.

When it comes to websites, the aforementioned Lick Library have many lessons online, as do True Fire.

I hope this small selection of recommendations is of some help…
